Vincent Nardone’s art career began as a student in a gifted children’s art program. As he grew artistically, his subsequent training in the fine arts earned him undergraduate/graduate degrees on the east and west coasts and honed his skills as an artist /educator. Vincent embarked upon a lengthy teaching career in art , spanning almost thirty years in public schools and in higher education. He became fascinated with the dynamics of creative-problem solving as an art specialist in the South Orange & Maplewood N.J. school district. It was at the elementary level that he studied this process and benefited by the exchange of motivation between teacher and student.
Embarking on an early retirement from teaching gave this artist more flexible time for painting and other cultural affairs. Currently, Nardone serves on the boards of Allied Artists of America and Audubon Artists, two prominent national art societies located in New York City. Also, he recently completed a two year project as a national nominating consultant to the Biographical Encyclopedia of American Painters, Sculptors & Engravers of the US: Colonial to 2002. This reference highlights living and deceased American artists from a process that networked Vincent with countless art personalities. Nardone always found a creative spark to focus, produce and exhibit his works.
International graduate study Sabbaticals to Paris and Florence in painting and art history opened up new horizons for him to the art of the western world. His international exhibits in group and one person shows are numerous.
The National Museum of Art in Budapest, Hungary and the Noyes Museum of Art in southern New Jersey have recently added his works to their permanent collections. Painting awards at Le Salon in Paris; the Prix Rubens Medal from Queen Fabiola of Belgium and the silver medallion in graphics at the Seoul International Arts were examples of major awards bestowed upon his art. As a ‘listed artist’, collectors have been attracted to his important works over the years at major auction houses. Nardone’s auction records are listed in Franklin & James Decade Review/ American Artists at Auction, Davenport’s Art Reference Price Guide and the ADEC Art Price Indicator International. His biographical coverage can be found in Who’s Who In American Art 2005-2006 and the Biographical Encyclopedia of American Painters, Sculptors and Engravers of the US.
Vincent has been involved in community art affairs as a cultural commissioner, art magazine reviewer and art collector. He professionally volunteers his efforts in art venues within the community in a need to reach out. Throughout the seasons, the artist can be found working on location with palette knife and acrylics as a “plein aire” painter. The dynamics of his indoor studio brings on discovery with innovative techniques in aquamedia and pastels on exotic papers. It is in both settings that this artist modulates the thought process between ‘Synthesis’ and ‘Analysis.’ Here we see the shifting from spontaneous synthesis of abstraction to the analysis of suggestive imagery, unfolding into Nardone’s hallmark compositions. Divergent playfulness motivates his ideas and this approach to art is his “Whimsical Palette”calling card.
